Alert 00 – 13 Lost Time Incident – Broken Finger
WHAT HAPPENED:
While attempting to remove the BOP remote closing unit from the rig floor during rig down operations, an employee’s finger was trapped between the BOP unit and the handrail. The finger was broke and required stitches. The unit was hung up on the mounting bracket so the employees were attempting to push it away from the rig floor. When the unit came loose from the mounting bracket, it moved suddenly and trapped the employee’s finger.
