IADC DEPARTMENT HEADS

Dr Lee Hunt:  IADC President

Dr. Lee Hunt Dr. Lee Hunt serves as the Chief Executive of IADC, responsible for managing IADC's worldwide operations. Before being named President in 1990, his prior Association positions included Manager for State Government Affairs, Environmental Affairs and Human Resources. Dr. Hunt holds a PhD in political science from Northwestern University and received his law degree from South Texas College of Law.


Brian T. Petty:  Senior Vice President - Government Affairs

Brian Petty Brian T. Petty is based in Washington with responsibility for IADC's government affairs initiatives. Mr. Petty holds a law degree from Georgetown University and an MA in literature from the University of Virginia. He serves as Chairman of the US Federal Industry Trade Advisory Committee for Automotive Equipment and Capital Goods (ITAC 2) and co-chairs the Energy Services Coalition, comprised of companies and trade associations seeking liberalization of trade in the energy sector.


Thomas T. Terrell:  Senior Vice President - Business Development

Tom Terrell Thomas T. Terrell is IADC Senior Vice President-Business Development. He has 33 years in publishing, marketing, and business experience with operating oil companies and service companies. He has been in charge of petroleum group operations for a major petroleum industry publishing company. Mr. Terrell has extensive experience in strategic planning, sales management, marketing, and product development.  His responsibilities included leadership of a diverse global sales, editorial, administrative and financial staff. Mr. Terrell holds a BBA from the University of Houston.


Mike Killalea:  Group Vice President/Publisher

Mike Killalea

Mike Killalea is Group Vice President/Publisher, with responsibility for conferences, corporate communications, and for IADC's award-winning official magazine Drilling Contractor, its website www.DrillingContractor.org, newsletter eNews from DrillingContractor.org, and the Annual IADC Membership Directory, for which he is Editor and Publisher. He also provides staff support for the IADC Advanced Rig Technology and Well Servicing Committees. Mr. Killalea's background in petroleum engineering is complemented by several years experience in technical and business journalism. He graduated with high honors from the University of California at Davis with a BS in chemical engineering.

 

Steve Kropla:  Group Vice President - Operations & Accreditation

Steve Kropla is Group Vice President - Operations and Accreditation.  He manages the association's Offshore Affairs, Land Drilling, HSE, and Accreditation and Certification functions as well as regional operations in North America, Europe, the Middle East and Asia. He is also responsible for overall management of IADC's technical committees. Mr. Kropla joined IADC in 1992 after more than 10 years experience in the drilling industry in Alaska and the lower 48 US states.  His duties included health and safety, training, and responsibility for a broad range of human resources issues. He holds a BS degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University and an MS in human resources management and development from Chapman University in Orange, California. Mr. Kropla is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.

 


Ken Fischer:  Regional Vice President - Middle East & Africa

Ken Fischer Ken Fischer serves as the Association’s  Regional Vice President for Middle East & Africa. In this capacity, he serves as liaison with Middle East and African members and chapters, as well as provide assistance with IADC programs, membership, conference development and publications. Mr. Fischer will also provide staff support for the UBO & MPD Committee and the Contracts Committee. He has broad drilling industry experience, particularly in operations, administration and contracts. He holds a BBA in marketing from the University of Texas, Austin.

OFFSHORE AFFAIRS

Alan Spackman:  Vice President - Offshore Technical and Regulatory Affairs

Alan Spackman Alan Spackman is Vice President of Offshore Technical and Regulatory Affairs. His responsibilities involve participation in industry standards organizations and responding to international regulatory proposals. He is IADC's representative to the International Maritime Organization. Mr. Spackman joined the Association after retiring from the US Coast Guard, where he held the rank of Commander. He received a masters degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Coast Guard Academy.


John Pertgen:  Assistant Director - Offshore Technical and Regulatory Affairs

John Pertgen plans for and responds to IADC technical and regulatory initiatives and serves as liaison to IADC committees and work groups. He was previously a compliance/regulatory superintendent for an offshore drilling company. He has experience managing regulatory and compliance issues associated with daily operations, repair and modifications to more than 60 mobile offshore drilling units. He also has tracked, scheduled and coordinated all regulatory inspections and surveys with regulatory agencies, rigs, crews and third-party contractors. He earned a Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science with a HRM concentration from the University of the State of New York.

LAND DRILLING & HSE

Joe Hurt:  Regional Vice President North America and Lead Staff Land HSE Issues

Joe Hurt  Regional Vice President North America and Lead Staff Land HSE Issues is responsible for the Land Division, HSE Committee, including the IADC Accident Statistics Program, and the Drilling and Well Servicing Structures Task Force.  While being employed by Noble Drilling Mr. Hurt was Chairman of the IADC Environmental Affairs Committee and was active in the Accident Prevention, Human Resources and Training Committees.  Mr. Hurt holds a BS in Education from Dickinson State College.

EUROPEAN OPERATIONS

Hans N.J. Versteeg:  Director, European Operations

Hans N.J. Versteeg coordinates IADC technical and regulatory efforts in Europe, including the European Operations Forum, Offshore Competency Training Programme, and the IADC HSE Case. Prior to joining IADC in 2009, Mr. Versteeg was co-owner of exploration and production operator CH4 and a director of its successor company, Venture. He previously worked for a number of operators in the Netherlands, UK and US. He served as 2008 Chairman of the Netherlands Oil and Gas Exploration & Production Association (NOGEPA). 

 

ASIAN OPERATIONS

Chit Hlaing: Operations Assistant - Asia Operations

Chit Hlaing supports IADC members and activities throughout Asia. Among his responsibilities are coordinating operational functions, promoting IADC accreditation programs and membership, and supporting conferences and chapters in the region. A native of Myanmar, Mr. Hlaing graduated from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. with a bachelor of science in engineering and worked for various oilfield service companies before joining IADC.

ACCREDITATION & CERTIFICATION

Brenda Kelly:  Director - Accreditation and Certification Programs

Brenda Kelly directs all operations of IADC accreditation programs, including development, implementation, communications, operations and administration. She formerly served as training coordinator with the University of Texas Petroleum Extension Service (PETEX). She has a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from Louisiana State University, an MS degree in Water Resources Engineering from Clemson University and a BS degree in Education from the University of Tennessee.


Marlene Diaz:  Senior Accreditation Coordinator

Marlene Diaz is responsible for the day-to-day management of IADC's WellCAP and WellCAP Plus  accreditation programs.  Preceding IADC, Ms. Diaz had 14 years of experience at Coastal Corp./ El Paso Energy in Marketing, Accounting and Shareholder Relations.  She is also fluent in Spanish to assist with IADC members in Latin America.


Renata Maxton:  Accreditation Coordinator

Renata Maxton is responsible for the day-to-day management of IADC's Drilling Industry Training, Ballast Control & Stability, all Spanish HSE RIG PASS accreditation programs and Training and Operations Passport sales. Ms Maxton is fluent in Spanish and will support communications with Latin American members. Her former services include 15 years of Credit, Accounting and Payroll Administration with Johnson Controls.


LaDonna Thierry:  Accreditation Coordinator

LaDonna Thierry is responsible for database maintenance, data entry, reporting and client communications, as well as the day-to-day management of IADC's, HSE RIG PASS and UBO RIG PASS accreditation programs. Ms. Thierry served 13 years in the US Air Force specializing in Information Management as a Staff Sergeant. She studied Information Systems Technology at the University of Maryland.

Leesa Teel:  Vice President Conferences

Leesa Teel is IADC Vice President of Conferences. She is responsible for managing IADC events worldwide.  Ms. Teel has prior marketing and administration experience in the offshore drilling industry. 


Anne Otten:  Senior Director of Conferences - Lead Staff Environment Initiatives

Anne Otten Anne Otten coordinates membership inquiries and manages the Association's conferences in the Eastern Hemisphere. Ms Otten holds a bachelors degree in communications from Eindhoven, the Netherlands.

Stephanie Murphy
Assistant Director - Conferences

Anouk Van De Water

Jason McFarland: Vice President - Membership and Publications

Jason McFarland is responsible for overall management of the Association’s membership and publications departments, including product development and marketing.  Mr. McFarland also assists in coordinating IADC’s Ethics and Corporate Compliance, Contracts, and Technical Publications Committees.  Additionally, Mr. McFarland serves as the IADC staff liaison for IADC chapters worldwide.  He holds a BBA in Management from the University of Houston Downtown.

 


Loretta Krolczyk:  Assistant Director - Publication Sales

Loretta Krolczyk Loretta Krolczyk is responsible for order placement, fulfillment and customer service for IADC Publications. IADC Publications provides the global drilling industry with an array of data-collection forms, training materials, model contracts, manuals and reference works.

Sharon Thorpe: Membership Coordinator

Sharon Thorpe is responsible for day-to-day management of IADC membership and for coordinating chapter events and officer updates on the IADC web site. In addition to organizing and carrying out the Association's annual membership drive, Ms. Thorpe also manages IADC's membership database.


Jimmie Cobbin:  IADC Office Services Coordinator and Sales Associate

Jimmie Cobbin manages IADC's back-office and is also responsible for order placement and fulfillment for IADC Publications.


Kay Hearne
:  Front Office Coordinator/Asst. Membership Coordinator

Kay Hearne is responsible for managing the IADC switchboard and front-office activities.  Ms. Hearne also plays a vital support role in membership renewal initiatives.

CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS

publishes IADC's official magazine Drilling Contractor and the Annual IADC Membership Directory, in addition to providing marketing support for conferences, IADC Publications and other activities.

Linda Hsieh: Assistant Managing Editor

Linda Hsieh  Assistant Managing Editor for Drilling Contractor magazine. she also has the responsibility for IADC's monthly newsletter Drill Bits and manages IADC's media relations. Ms Hsieh is a graduate of the journalism program at the University of Texas at Austin, where she also completed the Business Foundations program and minored in Asian Studies. She has more than 5 years of editing and layout experience at a daily newspaper and is fluent in Mandarin Chinese.

She previously served as IADC's Operations Group Coordinator until 2009.

Amanda Lemmond:  Operations Group Assistant

Amanda Lemmond provides administrative support to the IADC Operations Group. Among her primary duties are administration of the IADC Incident Statistics Program and facilitating communications with IADC's various operating divisions. She joined IADC in 2009.

Dean Gant,  Senior Director of Finance, is responsible for all aspects of IADC's financial management.  He is a 1981 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an Honor Accounting Fraternity, and has a Bachelor of Business Administration.  As a CPA, Mr. Gant has over 20 years experience in systems accounting for large and medium size firms.
