Jason McFarland serves as the Association’s President. He previously held the dual positions of Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief of Staff. Mr McFarland graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston – Downtown Campus with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He has served in numerous capacities during his career at IADC, including: management and oversight of the Association’s Publications and Membership departments; staff support for the Ethics, Contracts and Technical Publications Committees; and liaison for IADC’s global network of Chapters.

Alan Spackman is Vice President. His responsibilities involve participation in industry standards organizations and responding to international regulatory proposals. He is IADC’s representative to the International Maritime Organization. Mr Spackman joined the Association after retiring from the US Coast Guard, where he held the rank of Commander. He received a masters degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Coast Guard Academy.

ELIZABETH “LIZ” LEOTY CRADDOCK

Elizabeth “Liz” Leoty Craddock serves as Vice President of Policy and Government Affairs and manages the Washington, D.C. office for IADC. Her role is to develop sound policy and legislative solutions for IADC members at the state and Federal level. She also represents IADC to Congress and the Administration.

Mrs. Craddock has over 10 years of Congressional experience, most recently working as Staff Director of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee. She has a BA in Political Science and a BS in Public Relations from the University of Florida and a law degree from Tulane University Law School. She is also a member of the District of Columbia bar.

SR. DIRECTOR – POLICY & REGULATORY AFFAIRS

Jim Rocco is Senior Director, Policy and Regulatory Affairs. Jim joined IADC after retiring from the US Coast Guard with 23 years of active duty service. His last assignment with the Coast Guard was as Supervisor of its Offshore National Center of Expertise in Houma, Louisiana, where he had extensive interaction with the offshore oil and gas industry, and with IADC. In his twenty plus years with the Coast Guard, Jim served as liaison to vessel and offshore classification societies, and in field assignments as a commercial vessel inspector and port operations officer working in the ports of Seattle, Morgan City and Chicago.

Additional assignments at the US Coast Guard’s Washington DC headquarters included policy and procurement positions in the Offices of Navigation, Port and Facility Activities, the National Maritime Center and the Coast Guard’s Office of Acquisitions. Jim earned his undergraduate degree from Central Michigan University.

He earned his MBA with a focus in finance from Northern Illinois University, and a Masters of International Public Policy with a focus on energy resources from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies.

John PertgenJOHN PERTGEN

John Pertgen is Director – Offshore Technical and Regulatory Affairs. His responsibilities involve identifying and responding to national technical and regulatory proposals and initiatives, serving as liaison to IADC committees, and participating in numerous industry work groups as the IADC representative. Mr Pertgen has also represented IADC at many International Maritime Organization subcommittee meetings overseas. After retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard, where he became an experienced marine inspector, investigating officer and engineering officer, Mr Pertgen joined the offshore industry, initially serving as the Compliance / Licensing supervisor at an offshore drilling company, followed by a position as the compliance/regulatory superintendent. He holds a Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science with a HRM concentration from the University of the State of New York.

Amy RoseAMY ROSE

Amy Rose is Director of External Relations, responsible for public relations, education initiatives and media outreach. Before joining IADC, Ms Rose managed national and international media relations activities for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a major multi-center nonprofit hospital system. Ms Rose was instrumental in developing and implementing a media-relations strategy that resulted in high-profile media placements in print and television. She is a graduate of John Carroll University with a bachelor’s degree in communications and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America.

LEGISLATIVE ANALYST

Melissa Mejias joined the IADC Policy, Government and Regulatory Affairs Division in 2014 as Legislative Analyst. In her role, Ms. Mejias will focus on offshore legislation and assist with international affairs. She is based in Washington DC.

Previously, she held a safety compliance and environmental role as manager of marine safety and investigations at the Liberian International Ship and Corporate Registry. There, she assisted with writing and revising maritime rules and regulations and the development of regulatory policy. She also advised on relevant regulatory and legislative developments affecting the offshore industry. Ms Mejias has received global recognition for assisting in the resolution of several high profile maritime labor cases.

Melissa is a graduate of the United States Merchant Marine Academy and holds a Master of Public Administration from American University. She holds a third mate’s unlimited license and is a lieutenant in the Navy Reserves.

Steve Kropla is Vice President – Offshore Division. Mr Kropla is IADC’s representative on the Center for Offshore Safety’s Governing Board, and he is also a member of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers’ Wells Expert Committee. Mr Kropla joined IADC in 1992 after many years experience in the drilling industry in Alaska and the lower 48 US states. His duties included health and safety, training, and responsibility for a broad range of human resources issues. He holds a BS degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University and an MS in human resources management and development from Chapman University in Orange, California. Mr Kropla is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Bob Warren serves as Vice President – Onshore Division. He is responsible for the Land Division and HSE Committee. He began his career as a roughneck on drilling rigs in West Texas. After earning a degree in Petroleum Engineering from Texas Tech and a Far East tour of duty, he served 13 years in country management roles in Iran, Libya, and the Arabian Gulf Region. After completing an MBA at the University of Texas, Mr Warren joined Pride International where he served as Vice Presidents of Russia, Marketing, Investor Relations, and Industry Affairs, retiring in 2011 after 20 years of service. He has completed the Corporate Social Responsibility & Sustainability Program at Harvard Business School, and received the IADC Exemplary Service Award in 2010.

Holly Shock is responsible for general administration and coordination of IADC’s various standing committees, as well as other groups and subcommittees. She previously served as IADC’s Operations Group Coordinator until 2009. She holds a BBA from the University of Central Oklahoma, and is also a Certified Paralegal through the University of Houston.

She holds an MBA from the University of St. Thomas in Houston, TX and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business and communications from Goshen College. Ms Gunden is a member of the American Marketing Association and has served on the board and held various volunteer positions for the Houston Chapter.

Prior to his role at IADC, Anthony designed award-winning web applications for major advertising agencies and media companies. His technique was developed at Savannah College of Art & Design. Mike DuBose serves as IADC’s Vice President – International Development. Mr DuBose began his career with Rowan Companies, at the entry level position of a roustabout in the Gulf of Mexico in 1978. He worked offshore for the next 17 years at positions including driller, and OIM. He moved into shore based management and accepted positions with increasing levels of responsibility in the US, UK, Aberdeen and Nova Scotia, all with Rowan. Mr DuBose served as vice president of drilling operations for Southeast Asia, where he oversaw offshore operations in SE Asia for 4 jackup units. He retired from Rowan in 2013 after 35 years with the company. Mr DuBose holds a master of science degree from the University of Aberdeen.

REGIONAL VICE PRESIDENT – EUROPEAN OPERATIONS

Jens Hoffmark serves as IADC’s Regional Vice President – European Operations Denmark and directs the Association’s technical and regulatory activities throughout the continent. As such, Mr Hoffmark is chief liaison for the European Operations Forum, and supports IADC conferences and other initiatives in the region. Mr Hoffmark joined IADC in 2010 after a 40-year career with AP Moeller-Maersk, where he served in numerous management and operations positions both for drilling and shipping. In 2007, Mr Hoffmark was named Vice President-Business Development for Maersk drilling, based in Houston.

REGIONAL DIRECTOR – MIDDLE EAST & AFRICA

Dave Geer is IADC’s Regional Director – Middle East & Africa. He has more than 34 years international experience in the drilling industry. This experience includes more than 15 years working offshore in several positions, including OIM, and 19 years onshore in management positions in Sales, Project Management and Marine Operations. He has expertise in MODU operations, Risk Management, Safety & Loss Control, Regulations, and Contracts. He has a Bachelors of Science degree in Marine Transportation from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and previously held a Master Unlimited license from the US Coast Guard. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.

Chit Hlaing supports IADC members and activities throughout Asia. Among his responsibilities are coordinating operational functions, promoting IADC accreditation programs and membership, and supporting conferences and chapters in the region. A native of Myanmar, Mr Hlaing graduated from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. with a bachelor of science in engineering and worked for various oilfield service companies before joining IADC.

Derek MorrowDEREK MORROW

REGIONAL DIRECTOR – AUSTRALASIA

Derek Morrow has more than 40 years’ experience with the drilling industry in the UK and Australia, primarily with management and development of both large and small engineering and construction projects. As IADC Regional Director – Australasia, he is currently engaged in a wide range of issues to assist IADC members Australia and southeast Asia, including ongoing maintenance of the IADC HSE Case Guidelines to incorporate ongoing regulatory changes in Australia. He has served on the National Oil and Gas Safety Advisory Committee, the Australian Oil & Gas Industry Training Consortium, and is a member and former Chair of the advisory board of the National Drilling & Well Control Programme at the University of New South Wales. In 1999 he was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Australian Institute of Petroleum “for meritorious service on behalf of the Petroleum Industry in Australia.” In 2010 he was presented with an IADC Exemplary Service Award, given to recognize individuals for their outstanding contribution to the drilling industry.

Derek HartDEREK HART

REGIONAL DIRECTOR – NORTH SEA

Derek Hart has been named Regional Director ­ North Sea, with responsibility for advocating for IADC members in the North Sea area and supporting activities of the IADC North Sea Chapter. With more than 32 years in the offshore oil and gas industry, Derek began his career in the British Merchant Navy. He then joined Transocean, where he spent 27 years, first as Control Room Operator and Barge Master and OIM, before transferring onshore in 1992 to the Aberdeen QA/Safety Department. He then accepted a role as QHSE Manager for the North Sea in 1994 and was promoted to QHSE Manager for Europe and Africa in 2005. He was seconded to the Macondo investigation in 2010 and 2011, before returning to the North Sea and retiring from Transocean in early 2015.

Roberto Paschoalin is Regional Advisor – Brazil. In this role, he supports IADC members in the Brazil region and advocates on the association’s behalf with local regulators. Roberto has more than 37 years of experience in the oil and gas market in Brazil, 22 of which he spent with Petrobras in a variety of management positions.

He has a BA from the University of Sao Paulo, a MsC in Subsea Engineering from the University of Cranfield in the United Kingdom and an MBA from Fundacao Getulio Vargas.

Mark DenkowskiMARK DENKOWSKI

EXECUTIVE VICE PRESIDENT – OPERATIONAL INTEGRITY

Mark Denkowski serves as Executive Vice President of Operational Integrity. In this capacity, he oversees the association’s Onshore Division, Offshore Division, Drilling & Well Servicing Division, Accreditation & Credentialing Division, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control Division. These divisions are responsible for the bulk of IADC’s technical and regulatory activities, including, HSE, well control and training and competency functions. He is also responsible for overall management of IADC’s technical committees. He also directs all operations of IADC accreditation programs, program development and implementation, general communications, and administration. Mr Denkowski has over 30 years of industry experience. Offshore he has worked in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and West Africa for Smedvig Asia, Santa Fe and GlobalSantaFe. Onshore Mr Denkowski has worked for GlobalSantaFe as an International Employment Manager, for Transocean as the North American Employment Manager, and most recently as the Training & Development Manager for Frontier Drilling. While with Frontier Drilling Mr Denkowski was a member of the IADC Training Committee and the Chairman of the IADC Competency Assurance Panel. He has a BS degree in Earth and Mineral Science from Pennsylvania State University.

DIRECTOR – PROGRAM DEVELOPMENT & TECHNOLOGY

Brooke Polk serves as the Director of Program Development and Technology at the International Association of Drilling Contractors (IADC). She directs the development of new accreditation and certification programs, technology systems, and revision of existing programs, products, and systems. In addition, she manages IADC special projects and industry initiatives as well as participates as an IADC representative on multiple industry committees. She earned a Master of Education degree in Educational Technology Leadership from McNeese State and a Master of Education degree in Education Administration and Supervision from Stephen F. Austin University. She has a BS degree in Education. She formerly served as an education administrator, education curriculum director, curriculum designer, trainer, and program developer.

Alma Roberts is responsible for accreditation program administration, sustaining program quality, client relations and revenue performance. She manages all Accreditation program staff as well as the processes required for successful implementation of programs and products. She also participates as an IADC representative on multiple industry committees. She has over 17 years of management experience, with an emphasis on relationship management and is ISO 9001:2008 Lead Auditor certified. She is fluent in Spanish.

Marlene Diaz’ leadership role is managing all activities for the WellSharp, WellCAP and WellCAP Plus programs. She is also fluent in Spanish to assist with IADC members in Latin America.

Patty Tydings joined IADC in 2013 after working for 10 years as a trainer, program developer, and technical writer. She worked previously for 15 years as an educator, curriculum developer, and department head, primarily at the college level, where she taught technical writing for 8 years. She has a master’s degree in English and a bachelor’s degree in journalism. Ms Frias joined IADC with 18 years extensive experience in banking, management, team building, customer service, and training development. She is fluent in Spanish.

Gerardo Barrera is responsible for the certification of IADC’s WellCAP and WellSharp Instructors. Joseph Washington oversees product sales and inventory controls for all Accreditation & Credentialing programs. Mr Washington, a Houston native and U.S. Army combat veteran, obtained industry experience with Chevron ETC (Energy Technology Company), Frontier Drilling and Noble Drilling. Mr Washington is an honors graduate from Texas Southern University with a BA degree in Communications.

Cynthia Montero is responsible for IADC’s Drilling Industry Training program (DIT).

Cynthia’s background includes more than 20 years of international banking, title insurance and real estate experience where she oversaw property sales and mortgage financing for development projects in Mexico and Latin America. She earned her BBA degree in Marketing at the C.T. Bauer College of Business at the University of Houston. She is fluent in Spanish.

Elfriede Neidert is responsible for the oversight of Provider program audits and the compliance of program requirements by accredited Providers. Ms Neidert’s main focus is on training Provider and Vendor audits, but will also include internal quality control/quality assurance. Ms Neidert was previously employed with Weatherford International Ltd. for more than 9 years in a variety of supervisory and managerial roles, the most recent being Quality Assurance/Process Improvement Manager.

Debbie Johnson provides support and assistance to Training Providers and IADC’s auditors in the preparation, maintenance and completion of Training Provider Site Visits for the WellCAP, IADC Rig Pass and Drilling Industry Training (DIT) programs. Prior to joining IADC, Debbie was employed with BJ Process and Pipeline Services as the HR and Quality Assurance Representative for the past 5 years.

Dean Gant, Senior Director of Finance, is responsible for all aspects of IADC’s financial management. He is a 1981 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an Honor Accounting Fraternity, and has a Bachelor of Business Administration. As a CPA, Mr Gant has over 20 years experience in systems accounting for large and medium size firms.

Cynthia Phillips is responsible for assisting the Business Leadership Team in preparing annual budgets and monthly financial reports as well as systems integration support, including implementation for new and operational software. Ms Phillips has 30 years extensive experience in financial and administrative management and systems implementation. Her accounting career began in the conference and trade show arena then moved to large media companies. She worked with drilling and service companies in the oil and gas industry before joining IADC.

Josh Sanchez is IADC’s Lead Accounting Associate. He is responsible for overseeing the daily accounting operations including general ledger, accounts payable, and accounts receivable. Additionally, he prepares documentation for mid and year end audits. Mr. Sanchez is a graduate of the University of New Orleans where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. He joined IADC in 2012, bringing with him three years audit experience in the gaming industry and three years as an Operations Manager in the industrial supply industry.
