Building a Safety Culture through Workforce Development: Brooke Polk, Director Program Development &Technology, IADC
In a comprehensive approach to improving worker safety, stakeholders representing the primary types of rig workers have come together to build a workforce development system that a company can institute before the rig worker is hired and then can continue as a tool for professional development and competence assurance throughout that worker’s career. To help ensure that this system meets the needs of the industry, IADC solicited extensive industry participation in building its components, which make up a “cycle of competence” for rig personnel. This presentation will highlight the various accreditation programs that were developed.

The art of combining effective management and inspirational leadership is not something most leaders are born with. It requires training, mentoring and experience. A strong operational safety culture can only be established, reinforced, and sustained by well-trained leadership team.
