IADC and SPE are pleased to announce that the 2009 IADC/SPE Managed Pressure Drilling and Underbalanced Operations Conference & Exhibition will convene in San Antonio, Texas on 12-13 February at the Hyatt Regency Hotel Riverwalk.

As UBO/MPD technologies are increasingly put to work around the world, the mission of this conference looms all the more important: To convene interested parties in the diverse endeavors that comprise Managed Pressure Drilling and Underbalanced Operations to promote better understanding and awareness of the techniques involved and to advance safe, efficient procedures through optimization of MPD and UBO technologies and development of best practices.

The 2009 IADC/SPE Managed Pressure Drilling and Underbalanced Operations Conference will emphasize case histories, field applications and new technologies.

Abstracts on all aspects of UBO/MPD are welcome. Some broad suggested areas related to MPD or UBO include:

The 2009 IADC/SPE Managed Pressure Drilling and Underbalanced Operations Conference offers prospective authors the choice of submitting a complete technical paper that will be included in the SPE e-Library, as well as in the conference’s web-based proceedings, or of making a presentation with no formal paper required. Please indicate one of these options when submitting an abstract.

Authors are invited to submit proposals for presentations at the conference.
For consideration, an abstract for each proposed paper must be submitted to IADC no later than 29 August 2008.
Authors will be notified by 13 October 2008.
