AND
BALLAST CONTROL OPERATOR CERTIFICATION
♦Operated by IADC In conjunction with The Nautical Institute♦
INTRODUCTION
IADC is pleased to announce the launch of its accreditation service for providers of Marine Stability training. The system establishes training provider specifications and course curriculum guidelines based on the ballast control and stability requirements of IMO Assembly Resolution A.891(21). This system will be operated in conjunction with the international Nautical Institute, based in London.
The course curriculum is intended to fulfill the international flag state training requirements for Ballast Control Operator (BCO), Barge Supervisor (BS), and Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) licenses serving aboard an MOU. The system has been officially approved for individuals seeking those licenses on vessels registered in the Marshall Islands and Vanuatu.
The course has also been designed as the starting point for an IADC Ballast Control Operator (BCO) Certification. Qualified individuals can obtain certification after presenting documentation of sea time served and verified completion of key ballast control tasks through use of an on-board logbook.
For details, please refer to the online documents below. Training Providers seeking accreditation must complete Form BCS-02 and submit to IADC with appropriate fees and instructional materials.
For additional information on this system, please send e-mail to stability@iadc.org. More information about the Nautical Institute is available at its web site at www.nautinst.org.
