Accreditation & Certification
Educating, Training & Assessing the Drilling Industry

Drawing on 70 years of experience in the industry, IADC operates specially-designed accreditation programs that are recognized throughout the world. These programs have been developed to ensure the contents of critical training programs adhere to recognized industry standards:

WellCAP® provides building blocks for a comprehensive well control culture through every level of an organization. WellCAP offers curriculum guidelines for a full array of drilling and workover activities. Accredited training providers must meet criteria for training materials, facilities, instructor qualifications, simulation exercises, test administration and course management.

WellCAP Plus® is an advanced well control training program that targets more experienced operations personnel. This program encourages participation among multiple levels of decision makers (e.g., drilling superintendents, operations engineers, rig superintendents, and rig managers), and utilizes a facilitated learning approach to improve critical team decision-making and problem-solving skills.

RIG PASS® accredits Health, Safety & Environmental (HSE) and Underbalanced Operations (UBO) orientation programs. The HSE Rig Pass curriculum embraces safety fundamentals relevant to new rig employees. UBO Rig Pass familiarizes rig crews with the procedures, fluids and equipment associated with this emerging technology.

RIG PASS Course-To-Go® provides pre-packaged HSE Rig Pass course with workbooks, instructional aids, and an innovative software delivery system suitable for classroom, rig-based or "on the road" delivery.

Drilling Industry Training Accreditation System provides training providers accreditation for their custom designed courses and assures that similar courses meet the same minimum standards for design and delivery of training.

Competence Assurance is designed to assure that in-house competence programs meet accepted practices for developing and ensuring the skills of personnel. Companies accredited must demonstrate a commitment to having a competent work force through processes for defining competencies for each position and assessing and maintaining employee knowledge and proficiency. Consistent program oversight and quality control must be maintained.

Ballast Control and Stability accreditation is for providers of Marine Stability training and is operated in conjunction with the Nautical Institute, based in London. The Ballast Control/Stability system establishes training guidelines based on International Maritime Organization (IMO) requirements. The program fulfills international flag state training requirements for Ballast Control Operator, Barge Supervisor, and Offshore Installation Manager licenses. Following coursework, individuals can obtain IADC BCO Certification after documenting sea time service and task proficiency.

Training & Operations Passport Training & Operations Passport is a 36-page booklet for recording training courses, operations assignments, and medical & immunization information. Passports are available in English, Spanish, and Arabic, and may be customized with a company logo.
