STEPHEN A. COLVILLE: IADC PRESIDENT & CEO
Stephen Colville, President & CEO of the International Association of Drilling Contractors, has more than 30 years’ experience in corporate public affairs and government relations, with extensive on-the-ground experience in North and South America, Europe, South Africa, Middle East, Eurasia and Asia Pacific. He became IADC chief executive in 2012.
Mr Colville previously served as Vice President-Communications for Royal Dutch Shell – Projects & Technology Business, a position he held since August 2009. He moved to that position after serving as Vice President-Communications – Global Gas Business for Royal Dutch Shell, and had joined the company in December 2006 in that position.
Prior to Shell, Mr Colville served in various management-level policy, government and public affairs positions for Chevron, which he joined in 1997.
His earlier background includes seven years as an industry advocate, working in London and Brussels since 1990 to implement public and government-affairs campaigns. Mr Colville began his career in the UK Department of Trade and Industry in 1979, working in key policy divisions on trade regulations, competition regulation and project management.
He is a member of the International Association of Business Communicators, and enjoys coaching rugby, sailing and skiing.

BRIAN T. PETTY: executive vice president - government & regulatory affairs

Brian T. Petty is based in Washington with responsibility for IADC's government affairs initiatives. Mr. Petty holds a law degree from Georgetown University and an MA in literature from the University of Virginia. He serves as Chairman of the US Federal Industry Trade Advisory Committee for Automotive Equipment and Capital Goods (ITAC 2) and co-chairs the Energy Services Coalition, comprised of companies and trade associations seeking liberalization of trade in the energy sector.

MIKE KILLALEA: GROUP VICE PRESIDENT/PUBLISHER

Mike Killalea is Group Vice President/Publisher, with responsibility for IADC’s electronic and print communications vehicles; development, marketing and sales of IADC books and forms; advancing IADC’s digital applications; and public-relations and education initiatives. Mr. Killalea's background in petroleum engineering is complemented by more than 25 years experience in technical and business journalism. He graduated with high honors from the University of California at Davis with a BS in chemical engineering. Mike Killalea joined IADC in 1991.

STEVE KROPLA: Group Vice President - Operational Integrity

Steve Kropla is Group Vice President – Operational Integrity. He oversees the association's Onshore Division, Offshore Division, Drilling & Well Servicing Division, Accreditation & Credentialing Division, and Quality Assurance/Quality Control Division. These divisions are responsible for the bulk of IADC’s technical and regulatory activities, including, HSE, well control and training and competency functions. He is also responsible for overall management of IADC's technical committees. Mr. Kropla is IADC's representative on the Center for Offshore Safety's Governing Board, and he is also a member of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers' Wells Expert Committee. Mr. Kropla joined IADC in 1992 after many years experience in the drilling industry in Alaska and the lower 48 US states. His duties included health and safety, training, and responsibility for a broad range of human resources issues. He holds a BS degree in journalism from Southern Illinois University and an MS in human resources management and development from Chapman University in Orange, California. Mr. Kropla is a Certified Senior Professional in Human Resources.

Jason McFarland: Vice President - Corporate Development / Chief of Staff

Jason McFarland serves as the Association’s Vice President of Corporate Development and Chief of Staff. Mr. McFarland graduated summa cum laude from the University of Houston – Downtown Campus with a bachelor’s degree in business management. He has served in numerous capacities during his career at IADC, including: management and oversight of the Association’s Publications and Membership departments; staff support for the Ethics, Contracts and Technical Publications Committees; and liaison for IADC’s global network of Chapters.

KEN FISCHER: Vice President of International Development

Ken Fischer serves as the Association’s Vice President for International Development supporting IADC’s network of regional representatives in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Australia. He has broad drilling industry experience, particularly in operations, administration and contracts. Prior to joining IADC in 1992, Mr. Fischer worked for Progress Drilling and Marine, Cinco Drilling Co., Goldrus Drilling Co., and South Texas Drilling and Exploration. He holds a BBA in marketing from the University of Texas at Austin.

Leesa Teel is IADC Vice President of Conferences. She is responsible for managing IADC events worldwide. Ms. Teel has prior marketing and administration experience in the offshore drilling industry.

Mark Denkowski: Vice President - Accreditation & Credentialing Division

Mark Denkowski serves as the Vice President of Accreditation & Credentialing. In this capacity, he directs all operations of IADC accreditation programs, program development and implementation, general communications, and administration. Mr. Denkowski has over 30 years of industry experience. Offshore he has worked in Southeast Asia, the Middle East and West Africa for Smedvig Asia, Santa Fe and GlobalSantaFe. Onshore Mr. Denkowski has worked for GlobalSantaFe as an International Employment Manager, for Transocean as the North American Employment Manager, and most recently as the Training & Development Manager for Frontier Drilling. While with Frontier Drilling Mr. Denkowski was a member of the IADC Training Committee and the Chairman of the IADC Competency Assurance Panel. He has a BS degree in Earth and Mineral Science from Pennsylvania State University.
OFFSHORE DIVISION

ALAN SPACKMAN: Vice President - Offshore Division

Alan Spackman is Vice President - Offshore Division. His responsibilities involve participation in industry standards organizations and responding to international regulatory proposals. He is IADC's representative to the International Maritime Organization. Mr. Spackman joined the Association after retiring from the US Coast Guard, where he held the rank of Commander. He received a masters degree in naval architecture and marine engineering from the University of Michigan and a Bachelor of Science from the United States Coast Guard Academy.

John Pertgen: Director – Offshore Technical and Regulatory Affairs

John Pertgen is Director – Offshore Technical and Regulatory Affairs. His responsibilities involve identifying and responding to national technical and regulatory proposals and initiatives, serving as liaison to IADC committees, and participating in numerous industry work groups as the IADC representative. Mr. Pertgen has also represented IADC at many International Maritime Organization subcommittee meetings overseas. After retiring from the U.S. Coast Guard, where he became an experienced marine inspector, investigating officer and engineering officer, Mr. Pertgen joined the offshore industry, initially serving as the Compliance / Licensing supervisor at an offshore drilling company, followed by a position as the compliance/regulatory superintendent. He holds a Master of Science degree from Central Michigan University and a Bachelor of Science with a HRM concentration from the University of the State of New York.

Julia Swindle: Safety Management Systems Specialist

As Safety Management Systems Specialist, Julia Swindle is currently providing assistance to the Offshore Division with regulatory matters, particularly those regarding SEMS and related issues. She is also supporting continued development of the IADC HSE Case Guidelines and associated reference materials.

Joe Hurt: Vice President - Onshore Division

Joe Hurt, Vice President - Onshore Division, is responsible for the Land Division, HSE Committee, including the IADC Accident Statistics Program, and the Drilling and Well Servicing Structures Task Force. While being employed by Noble Drilling Mr. Hurt was Chairman of the IADC Environmental Affairs Committee and was active in the Accident Prevention, Human Resources and Training Committees. Mr. Hurt holds a BS in Education from Dickinson State College.

Paul Breaux: Director Onshore HSE

Paul Breaux is Director Onshore HSE and lead staff person on the Rig Moving Committee. Paul also provides support for HSE Committee and Land Division. He began his career in the Oil & Gas industry as a site medic and safety coordinator in 1998 after honorably serving in the U.S. Navy as a Hospital Corpsman. Mr. Breaux served as a HSE Director for an oil services company before moving to a HSE Consultant role for various offshore and onshore oilfield services companies throughout the continental United States. Mr. Breaux is a current member of the American Society of Safety Engineers, past-president of the New Orleans Chapter of the American Society of Safety Engineers, a former board member of the New Orleans Chapter of the National Safety Council and a member of the Gulf Coast Safety & Training Group.

Rhett Winter: Director Onshore Operations

Rhett Winter is Director Onshore Operations and provides full-time support to the Operational Integrity group to promote the activities of the Onshore Division, The Rig Moving Committee and the organization in general. Prior to joining IADC, Mr. Winter worked Onshore as a roughneck, derrickman and Driller. Mr. Winter holds a BS in Agriculture from Texas A & M University.
DRILLING & WELL SERVICES DIVISION

Scott Maddox: Director – Drilling & Well Services Division

Scott Maddox serves as IADC Director of the Drilling & Well Services Division. As such, Mr Maddox provides operational and technical support to the IADC Underbalanced Operations & Managed Pressure Drilling, Advanced Rig Technology and Well Servicing Committees. Mr Maddox’s began his career in the oil and gas industry in 2002. Most recently, Mr Maddox was QHSE Manager for the US unit of i-TEC Well Solutions. Previously, Mr Maddox served as Corporate HSE Director for Xtreme Coil Drilling Corporation. Mr Maddox earlier held HSE positions in both offshore and onshore drilling segments. Before joining the energy industry, Mr Maddox served 8 years in the US Navy. He is a graduate of Columbia Southern University and is currently enrolled in the MBA program at Grantham University.
QUALITY CONTROL & QUALITY ASSURANCE DIVISION

ELFRIEDE NEIDERT: Director – Quality Assurance/Quality Control Division

Elfriede Neidert is responsible for the oversight of Provider program audits and the compliance of program requirements by accredited Providers. Ms. Neidert’s main focus is on training Provider and Vendor audits, but will also include internal quality control/quality assurance. Elfriede was previously employed with Weatherford International Ltd. for more than 9 years in a variety of supervisory and managerial roles, the most recent being Quality Assurance/Process Improvement Manager. Ms. Neidert reports to the Group Vice President - Operational Integrity.

DEBBIE JOHNSON: QUALITY ASSURANCE & QUALITY CONTROL COORDINATOR

Debbie Johnson provides support and assistance to Training Providers and IADC’s auditors in the preparation, maintenance and completion of Training Provider Site Visits for the WellCAP, IADC Rig Pass and Drilling Industry Training (DIT) programs. Ms. Johnson will also participate in internal IADC non-financial audits. Prior to joining IADC, Debbie was employed with BJ Process and Pipeline Services as the HR and Quality Assurance Representative for the past 5 years.

IADC Communications publishes IADC’s official magazine Drilling Contractor, the Annual IADC Membership Directory, the monthly newsletter “Drill Bits,” the electronic newsletter eNews from DrillingContractor.org, and the Association’s websites www.IADC.org and www.DrillingContractor.org. In addition, Communications provides communications support for IADC officers and staff, as well as managing IADC’s public outreach and public relations efforts.

Linda Hsieh: Managing Editor

Before joining IADC, Ms Rose managed national and international media relations activities for the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, a major multi-center nonprofit hospital system. Ms Rose was instrumental in developing and implementing a media-relations strategy that resulted in high-profile media placements in print and television. She is a graduate of John Carroll University with a bachelor's degree in communications and is a member of the Public Relations Society of America.

Anthony Garwick: Webmaster

He specializes in HTML5, search engine optimization, social media, internet marketing, and mobile UI design. Joanne Liou: Associate Editor

As a multimedia journalist, she is responsible for writing, producing and editing content for Drilling Contractor magazine, its affiliated publications and website. She also was a fellow of the multimedia program at Maynard Institute for Journalism Education. Before joining IADC, she worked for daily newspapers as a copy editor, designer and reporter.

Katherine Scott: Associate Editor

In addition to preparing print articles, Katherine assists with video and multimedia projects. She conducted special work and training in multimedia for the web, including shooting and editing video to combine with audio and photographs.
INTERNATIONAL DEVELOPMENT

JENS HOFFMARK: Regional Vice President - European Operations Denmark
Jens Hoffmark serves as IADC's Regional Vice President - European Operations Denmark and directs the Association's technical and regulatory activities throughout the continent. As such, Mr. Hoffmark is chief liaison for the European Operations Forum, and supports IADC conferences and other initiatives in the region. Mr. Hoffmark joined IADC in 2010 after a 40-year career with AP Moeller-Maersk, where he served in numerous management and operations positions both for drilling and shipping. In 2007, Mr. Hoffmark was named Vice President-Business Development for Maersk drilling, based in Houston.

Dave Geer: Regional Director - Middle East & Africa
Dave Geer is IADC’s Regional Director - Middle East & Africa. He has more than 34 years international experience in the drilling industry. This experience includes more than 15 years working offshore in several positions, including OIM, and 19 years onshore in management positions in Sales, Project Management and Marine Operations. He has expertise in MODU operations, Risk Management, Safety & Loss Control, Regulations, and Contracts. He has a Bachelors of Science degree in Marine Transportation from the Massachusetts Maritime Academy and previously held a Master Unlimited license from the US Coast Guard. He is fluent in English and Portuguese.

Chit Hlaing: Assistant Regional Director - Asia Pacific

Chit Hlaing supports IADC members and activities throughout Asia. Among his responsibilities are coordinating operational functions, promoting IADC accreditation programs and membership, and supporting conferences and chapters in the region. A native of Myanmar, Mr. Hlaing graduated from the Wentworth Institute of Technology in Boston, MA. with a bachelor of science in engineering and worked for various oilfield service companies before joining IADC.

Derek Morrow: Regional Director - Australasia
Derek Morrow has more than 40 years’ experience with the drilling industry in the UK and Australia, primarily with management and development of both large and small engineering and construction projects. As IADC Regional Director - Australasia, he is currently engaged in a wide range of issues to assist IADC members Australia and southeast Asia, including ongoing maintenance of the IADC HSE Case Guidelines to incorporate ongoing regulatory changes in Australia. He has served on the National Oil and Gas Safety Advisory Committee, the Australian Oil & Gas Industry Training Consortium, and is a member and former Chair of the advisory board of the National Drilling & Well Control Programme at the University of New South Wales. In 1999 he was presented with a Certificate of Appreciation by the Australian Institute of Petroleum “for meritorious service on behalf of the Petroleum Industry in Australia.” In 2010 he was presented with an IADC Exemplary Service Award, given to recognize individuals for their outstanding contribution to the drilling industry.

John Boogaerdt: Regional Director - Europe
John Boogaerdt provides support for IADC’s International Development efforts. He is a senior oil industry professional with 35 years experience in Shell, OMV, Parker Drilling and Schlumberger Business Consulting. His experience is on a wide range of E&P subjects with specific expertise in management of major oil and gas projects. In 2005 he became senior vice president production in OMV. In 2009 he became Managing Director at Parker Drilling International. From July 2011 John served as the Wells Committee Manager at The International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (OGP).
ACCREDITATION & CREDENTIALING

Brenda Kelly: Senior Director Program Development

Brenda Kelly directs the Accreditation & Credentialing Department’s new program development and existing program ongoing review and revision. In addition to Dr. Kelly acting as an IADC representative on multiple industry committees, she is also a Certified Senior Auditor and regularly conducts audits on IADC’s behalf. She formerly served as training coordinator with the University of Texas Petroleum Extension Service (PETEX). She has a Ph.D. in Engineering Science from Louisiana State University, an MS degree in Water Resources Engineering from Clemson University and a BS degree in Education from the University of Tennessee.

Brooke Comeaux: Competence and Learning Development Specialist

Brooke Comeaux serves as Competence and Learning Development Specialist. She assists with new accreditation program development and implementation plus the upgrade and improvement to existing programs. She identifies and implements new technology for the Accreditation Department and assists with accreditation management.
She earned a Master of Education degree in Technology Leadership from McNeese State and a Master of Education degree from Stephen F. Austin University in Education Administration. She has a BS degree in Education. She formerly served as an education coordinator, trainer, and program developer.

Alma Roberts: Manager – Accreditation & Credentialing Programs

Alma Roberts is responsible for maintaining general accreditation program administration, sustaining program quality, client relations and revenue performance. She joined IADC with more than 15 years of management experience, with an emphasis on relationship management. She is fluent in Spanish.

MARLENE DIAZ: TEAM LEADER - ACCREDITATION & CREDENTIALING

Marlene Diaz is responsible for the day-to-day management of IADC's WellCAP and WellCAP Plus accreditation programs and will provide general oversight for program administration, operations and customer service activities within the accreditation department. Preceding IADC, Ms. Diaz had 14 years of experience at Coastal Corp./ El Paso Energy in Accounting, Marketing and Shareholder Relations. She is also fluent in Spanish to assist with IADC members in Latin America.

Loundia Riggs: Accreditation Coordinator

Loundia Riggs is responsible for IADC's Drilling Industry Training (DIT) accreditation program and records control for the departments quality management system. Ms. Riggs comes to IADC from National Oilwell Varco where she was Order Manager with extensive experience in customer service.

Joseph Washington: Accreditation Coordinator

Joseph Washington has assumed the duties of IADC’s Competence Assurance Accreditation (CAA), Drilling Industry Training (DIT), and Ballast Control/Stability (BCS/BCO) accreditation programs. Mr. Washington, a Houston native and U.S. Army combat veteran, obtained industry experience with Chevron ETC (Energy Technology Company), Frontier Drilling and Noble Drilling. Mr. Washington is an honors graduate from Texas Southern University with a BA degree in Communications.

Rosa Frias: Accreditation Coordinator

Rosa Frias is the Accreditation Coordinator responsible for the IADC’s Rig Pass Program. Rosa joined IADC with 18 years extensive experience in banking, management, team building, customer service, and training development. She is also fluent in Spanish. .

Gerardo Barrera: Accreditation Coordinator

Gerardo Barrera is responsible for processing new Instructor applications, maintaining and updating Instructor qualifications and monitoring Instructor’s accreditation status for IADC’s Rig Pass and WellCAP Accreditation Programs. Gerardo joined IADC with 10 years of banking experience, specializing in relationship building. He is also fluent in Spanish.

Sharon Thorpe: Director - Membership

Fran Kennedy-Ellis: Director – Publishing Initiatives

Fran Kennedy-Ellis joined IADC as Director – Publishing Initiatives in August 2012. Ms Kennedy-Ellis oversees the update of the IADC Drilling Manual and other IADC publications. Her duties will include author relations, content development, digital asset management, as well as permissions and copyright issues for print and electronic editions.
Ms Kennedy-Ellis previously served as Assistant Director for the Petroleum Extension Service (PETEX) at the University of Texas at Austin. She earlier worked at SPE, overseeing its book program, technical journals, peer review and publications committees. She has a bachelor’s degree in English and a master’s in Administration from Texas Tech University.

Loretta Krolczyk: Assistant Director - Publication Sales

Holly Shock: Committee Coordinator

Holly Shock is responsible for general administration and coordination of IADC's various standing committees, as well as other groups and subcommittees. Her focus is efficient coordination of IADC committee activities, maintenance of committee membership rosters, and communications with committee and subcommittee chairmen. She previously served as IADC's Operations Group Coordinator until 2009. She holds a BBA from the University of Central Oklahoma, and is also a Certified Paralegal through the University of Houston.

He is a 1981 graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, a member of Beta Alpha Psi, an Honor Accounting Fraternity, and has a Bachelor of Business Administration. As a CPA, Mr. Gant has over 20 years experience in systems accounting for large and medium size firms.

Cynthia Phillips: Business Systems Administrator

Cynthia Phillips is responsible for assisting the Business Leadership Team in preparing annual budgets and monthly financial reports as well as systems integration support, including implementation for new and operational software. Ms. Phillips has 30 years extensive experience in financial and administrative management and systems implementation. Her accounting career began in the conference and trade show arena then moved to large media companies. She worked with drilling and service companies in the oil and gas industry before joining IADC.
